About PlotFuture

PlotFuture is a free set of tools for one of the hardest decisions there is: what to study, what career it leads to, and whether that path will still be there in ten years.

Why this exists

Most advice about majors and careers is either a static snapshot ("this job pays $X") or someone's gut feeling. Neither helps you decide. The real questions are forward-looking: where does this path actually go? Is AI coming for it? If it is, where could you pivot without taking a pay cut? Those answers live in data that's public but scattered across half a dozen government databases — too fragmented for anyone to use.

So we join those sources together and project them forward. The result is the kind of cross-source, forward-looking view you can't get from a single chart or a quick search.

How we keep it honest

• Every number is sourced. We use only public U.S. government data, and every tool says exactly where its figures come from.
• We state facts and group-level trends — we don't predict your personal fate. A tool can tell you a field's typical outcomes; it can't tell you yours. We're careful never to cross that line.
• Our method is transparent. The How it works page explains exactly how the data is joined and computed, so you can judge it for yourself.

Who's behind it

PlotFuture is an independent project. We don't sell your data, and the tools are free to use. It's built and maintained under the PlotFuture name rather than a personal byline — what matters is that the data and the method are open to inspection, which they are.
